This is a tough decision and I think each case is individual and a family decision.  As genomics matures and we are able to have an entire sequence done quickly, it may be worthwhile to have it done for a small child, but this may not evolve to where we may see it in practice for a number of years, and then for us adults, well what do we want to know, again back to a personal choice as the results may or may not spur decisions and actions.  BD 

CHICAGO - Women are going for breast cancer gene testing in record numbers, forcing more parents to face a tough question: Should we test the kids?   About 100,000 tests for breast cancer gene mutations were done last year, double the number in 2005. The trend may grow even more because of widening insurance coverage and a new law banning genetic discrimination.
